WASHINGTON – The chairman of the House oversight committee is sending investigators to the Environmental Protection Agency to review all records housed at the agency related to Administrator Scott Pruitt’s exorbitant travel expenses, according to media reports.
Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-South Carolina who chairs the committee overseeing the executive branch, has expanded his investigation into the scandals swirling around Pruitt over his use of taxpayer money to fund his first-class travel, security costs and the housing arrangement that allowed Pruitt to stay in a condo linked to an energy lobbyist for $50 a night.
“Scott Pruitt’s grift at EPA could soon be up,” said EWG President Ken Cook.
“Pruitt’s tenure at EPA is already in jeopardy, but with Chairman’s Gowdy’s decision to go into EPA and sift through his travel records shows it’s now hanging by a thread,” added Cook.
